What do I do to get ready for a Fairy GodMother Party?
Nothing! The only thing a parent needs to do is provide the birthday cake and guests. That's it! The Fairy Godmother always arrives fully prepared for every party and never requires any preliminaries or set-ups!
Are Fairy Godmother Parties suitable for Boys?
Heavens YES! The Fairy Godmother designed her parties so that so that any child who would thrill over a trip to a theme park would find a far more "personal" enchanting experience even more thrilling! Regardless of gender, ALL children respond to feeling SO special, real "story book magic" arrives on their very own door step!
How much room or space do I need?
Almost none! The only space required for any party is enough for the children to sit on the floor around the Fairy Godmother, so simply scoot the coffee table back and you are all set!
Sit on the Floor?? Why not around the table or couches or chairs?
First of all, as the Fairy Godmother's costumes are quite elaborate, being down on the children's same level not only puts the children at ease, but allows everyone to be within "arms length" when the balloon amimals give "kisses" or Skipper the Chipmonk tries to jump on their heads, (etc) so that no child is "left out" and the Fairy Godmother is able to make sure that EVERY child is giggling! However, in particularly LARGE parties, the Fairy Godmother may occasionally choose to "elevate" herself onto a chair simply to prevent children from "squishing" each other in their eagerness to get more attention!
What about OutDoor Parties?
Terrific! Simply throw down a few old blankets, sheets, etc. *Just make sure to keep the Fairy Godmother in the shade!*
What Time should I start the party versus have the Fairy GodMother Arrive?
Please plan on starting your party at least 15 to 30 minutes BEFORE the Fairy GodMother is scheduled to arrive (And even more if you are serving lunch or pizza, etc) for several reasons.....
- FairyGodmother Parties begin the moment the Fairy Godmother arrives, as she immediately launches into her "Special Introduction"
- You can PLAN on having guests trickle in 5,10,15 even 20 minutes late because life is so hectic these days! Things like bad traffic or “can't find little brothers shoe”, etc seem to occur in ALL gatherings , so do yourself (and your party) a BIG favor and plan on having “late comers”.
- Children need plenty of "run around" time to become acclimated with not only all the other children but their new surroundings, versus having a little one arrive when the party is already in full swing... Of course, the Fairy Godmother tries to encourage new arrivals to come over and "join in", but when everyone turns to look?...most little ones tend to grab mommy or daddy's leg and are immediately uncomfortable!) Plus, you wouldn't want any little guest to miss out on the Fairy Godmother's wonderful "Special Introduction"!.
Is there anything I should worry about during a Fairy Godmother Party?
Only one thing. Children quickly loose out when the volume of BIG people completely overrides the Fairy Godmother. Adult tendency to “catch up” or “chat is normal and to be expected, of course..but please be prepared to "moniter" your grown up guests in order to ensure that your child and all your "little" guests receive the party they deserve as "surprises" and quick little "jokes" or "stories" generally can not be repeated due to time constraints.
What do I do if I wind up with more children than I'd planned?
First of all....please take a minute to call the morning of your party and confirm the number of children! Then don't worry. The Fairy GodMother has been doing this long enough to be prepared for a few extra children. However, keep in mind, should your numbers increase drastically without the Fairy Godmother's knowledge, the Fairy GodMother can not be put in the position of leaving a child or two “out” therefore no prizes will be awarded.
What if I owe for extra children or Travel Fees?
Never a problem....Just please always be discreet and NEVER pay the Fairy Godmother in front of the children!! That would be as bad as seeing Santa being "paid" to visit them! Simply follow the Fairy Godmother outside when the party is over, and all will be well!
What are the “Travel Fees” ?
Because time spent doing parties is obviously much more valuable than time spent on the road, and due to rising gas prices, the Fairy Godmother does initiate a nominal travel fee of $35/Hr for all areas outside the Greensboro City Limits and NO Travel Fees occure until AFTER the City Limits have been crossed.
Example: Downtown High Point is approximately 15 minutes after crossing the Greensboro City Limit Line, therefore 15 minutes return equals 30 minutes total travel time, making the Total Travel Fee $17.50
What is the Fairy GodMother “Payment Policy” ?
“Fairy GodMother Parties” is a very small and personal business, therefore the “payment policy” is based on somewhat of an “Honor System”. As is not surprising, week-ends are in most demand, and once a Party date and time has been “Booked”, the Fairy Godmother is, of course, now turning away all other business for that date, therefore the Party Check is requested to be mailed within 48 Hours of the booking in the FULL AMOUNT of the Party Package. All Money is 100% REFUNDABLE with a TWO WEEK NOTIFICATION.
How do I "introduce" the Fairy Godmother?
You don't! Although, of course, the Fairy Godmother will do things however you would like her to, she definately prefers her arrival to be a big suprise as well as a perfect springboard for quickly scooping the children into the palm of her hand! And her Special Introduction accomplishes several important factors in one fell swoop!
Okay, what exactly is the "Special Introduction"?
- *Briefly, the Fairy Godmother loves to pretend that she just happened to pop by "...because all week long, her elves have been SO excited about a (little boy or girl) who is so extremely wonderful, and super special, she simply had to come see for herself!
By the time the Fairy Godmother finally gets around to asking...."Do you know who my elves have been talking about all week? Is there anybody here named _________??", and the other children turn and point?....the birthday child can't help but puff up their chests! *Whereas the Fairy Godmother gasps and makes a big "to do" while continuing her "introduction" , putting the children more and more at ease as well as subtly building excitement and participation with each sentence, and eventually concluding with the "magical gift from the elves" (During which time the Fairy Godmother takes advantage of such to get all the children seated and situated) Hence, the Special Introduction is first of all, #1 A big flattering ego boost for the Birthday Child! **So please remind all other adults (Grandparents, Aunts, cousins, etc) to not "point out" the birthday child when the Fairy Godmother enters the room, as such is often their first instinct!)
- #2. It reinterates to all the other children that the Fairy GodMother is there BECAUSE of the Birthday Child, which is a tremendous help throughout the entire party when (not surprisingly) little one's may forget why they aren't the first to recieve a balloon animal, or allowed to help with the magic wand, etc., etc,...
- #3. It immediately creates the magical tone that is carried throughout the entire party as well as gets ALL the children giggling when The Fairy Godmother starts "searching" for the Elves Gift for the Birthday Child, as the elves have filled her pockets with one silly thing after another!
The only thing a parent needs to do once the Fairy Godmother sets foot through the door is sit back and relax (and feel free to act as surprised as the children!)
What if I want Group Pictures?
Wonderful!! By the end of the party, the children are grinning from ear to ear, which is a perfect time for wonderful "posed" group pictures! The Fairy Godmother will even allow her birthday girl to play "dress up" in her star dust cape and crown and special "fairy dust" wand if time allows.)
***** RULE of THUMB for Glitter Party***** Or "How to Judge Your Time versus Number of children"
- Fortunately, the "Glitter Party Package" is indeed flexible enough to easily accommodate ANY SIZE group, no matter how LARGE ....as there are many different ways you can "taylor" your Glitter Party once you understand the basic "Rule of Thumb" for Time Per Activity/ per child).
- The Special Introduction at the begining of each party (followed by getting seated and situated with the children) always requires at least 5 minutes .
- The Presentation of Magic Fairy Godmother Rings (at the end of the party) plus Group Photos require 5 - 10 minutes.
- Balloon Animals require approx 2 minutes per child (because of so much silliness sprinkled throughout, keeping all the children entertained.)
- Glitter Paintings require on average 3 min. per child.
(A glitter mermaid, puppy dog, or rainbow may take only 2 minutes whereas more complicated things such as a fire breathing dragon, or Spiderman may take 3-4 min.)
- Puppet Time can run as long or short as time allows but the children could EASILY spend 20 minutes or more playing with just the puppets alone!)
Hence, a Glitter Party for 8 children would run as follows: Introduction, Magic Ring + Photo Time 15 min Balloon Animals (2 min. X 8 = 16) 16-20 min Glitter Paintings (3 min X 8 = 24) 24 min Puppet Time 10 min Total 65 (average) min
- For One Hour parties with larger groups, simply choose the activity you prefer:
- An example for 15 children could be:
- Intro, Rings, Photo 15 min
- Balloon animals (2 min X 15 children 30 min
- Puppets 15 min
*OR*
- Intro, Rings, Photo 15 min
- Glitter Paintings (3 min X 15 children) 45 min
- Puppets 5-10 min
*OR*
- if you want chidren to receive everything available in the Glitter Party. simply book an additional half hour ($35) accordingly.
- *Cake Serving Suggestion*
In the Glitter and Deluxe Party packages, in which Glitter Paintings are involved, the Birthday child is always allowed to receive the first Glitter Painting. And although everyone loves crowding around and watching the glitter paintings go on so quickly and beautifully, since the Birthday Child is completed, this is also a perfect time (if you so choose) to get the cake and candles ready, (so there is no "lag" time) then simply get the Fairy GodMother's attention. and allow her a few moments to "explain" and get the children excited (because many little ones immediately become fearful that they might not recieve a Glitter Painting and look horror stricken! Once the Fairy Godmother has assured the children that she "is not going ANYwhere .but won't it be FUN to have birthday cake AND Glitter Paintings at the same time?", the children are then delighted to be seated at the table, sing "Happy Birthday" and start having their cake while the Fairy Godmother smoothly goes back to continuing the Glitter Paintings. *Note: Due to the fact that the Fairy Godmother has learned the "hard way" (grin) that sticky fingers and juice boxes simply do not go well with costumes or props, etc..she prefers to keep her activities at a distance away from all food and beverages." Once the Glitter Paintings are completed, the Fairy Godmother calls all the children together one last time for the Special Presentation of "Magic Fairy Godmother Rings".
- After the "Magic Rings" is the perfect time for group pictures!
WHY?? is there a recommended limit of 15 children for the Magic and Deluxe Parties?
Although the old saying, "The more the merrier!" does apply to Grown Ups, it is in fact, the EXACT opposite when applied to children, who definately appreciate and desire "personal attention" far more than being lost in a crowd! Parties as extremely active and involved as the Magic and Deluxe Packages unfortunately tend to develop an "assembly line" quality when groups become overly large, which not only severly depletes the Birthday Child's Special Day but takes away from the very essence of what makes a Fairy Godmother Party so uniquely unforgettable!
- Although it may seem strange to some that the Fairy Godmother would chose to NOT make as much $$ as possible, she feels that sacrificing the wonderful memories that make such a time in a child's life so unforgettable is simply not worth the few extra $$!
