"A Fairy Godmother's Beliefs" To be a child is magic, |
|
*Note to Parents*
When asked to explain why I would choose to become a Fairy Godmother in 1996 over my degree in Veterinary Medicine, I at first wrote pages and pages trying to explain my belief that children must first appreciate and respect themselves in order to fully respect and appreciate all other life as adults! However, I soon realized that any parent who would take the time to research for their child's special day, already understands my appreciation for those marvelous and all to quickly fleeting years of wide eyed wonder!
Although I will always miss the days when my own were small, I am able to relive that joy every time I set foot through the door as the "Fairy Godmother"!
But regardless of whether or not you choose a Fairy Godmother Party, I want to thank you for being the type of parent who would bother to take the time to search for something uniquely special!
If every parent felt the same way about their child as you obviously do?... I can't help but believe that our world would indeed be filled with alot more "Happily-Ever-After's" in the long run!
Warmly and Sincerely,
Mrs. Debi Leitner

Fairy Godmother Parties not only won the title of "Most Creative" in the 1998 Greensboro Christmas Parade but was also granted the honor of a Front Page picture in the Greensboro News and Record of her "Magical Elves who danced despite the rainy weather!"
*Just FYI, the "elf" on the right is the Fairy Godmother's own wonderful daughter, (then 16 yrs old) who is now an even more wonderful Senior at Appalachian State.*

The Fairy Godmother's Greatest Gift Raising a child in this day and age is extremely difficult regardless of being a Fairygodmother or not. Not until I watched my daughter walk across the stage of Appalacian State University did it began to sink in that the two of us had actually weathered the devistation of divorce, starting our lives over as a single parent family and even the turbulant teen years. But the strangest impact of all was suddenly realizing fully that my child was not only all grown up, but also every thing I had ever dreamed she would become when I first held her in my arms as an infant...truly kind, honest, wise beyond her years, self confident, and as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Previously, she had previously recieved a trip for two to go anywhere in the world as a graduation gift and as we sqeeled and hugged and tossed her cap in the air again, I thought my heart would burst with pride and excitement for her! The world really was my little girls oyster! However never ever in my wildest dreams could I have anticpated what my off spring did next. She hugged me even harder and said, "Thank you so much Mom... for everything...I never could have done it without you!" I was fighting back tears of happiness when she beamed even brighter and continued... "So guess what?"....(she paused for dramatic affect before squeeling) "You and I are going to Rome!!" And yes, at that point my heart did in fact burst completely. So to all parents who are struggling with the joys/heart ache of child rearing, just know that as long as your child knows you love them beyond all question,.... you have accomplished the most important battle that will see you through whatever life throws at you both! P.S Update: Not only did we have the time of our lives in Italy (HUGE understatement!) my daughter was recently invited to go to Japan to teach English! (which I encouraged full heartedly! What an incredible once in a life time experience!?!) And once again, absolutely nothing prepared me for going to the mailbox on my birthday to find a two way ticket to Japan!
